#04 – 2049 and the trend is rising

Hey Stalker,

we have been working on the Sievert Zone for about half a year now and what can I say? It has become our absolute heart project, so that we invest almost every free minute in the map. Thus we have created a basis, with which we are very satisfied and on which we can build further.

Today we have some more info for you and I promise it’s worth reading to the end.

As already mentioned in past DevBlogs, we import all S.T.A.L.K.E.R. assets into DayZ. In the meantime we have reached a proud number of 2049 assets, and the trend is rising. Although not all objects have a finished collsion yet, things are progressing well here as well.

Due to this large number of assets, we are able to offer a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. atmosphere as close to the original game as possible.

We put a lot of effort into making sure that the assets serve the regular functions of DayZ. This includes a good collision detection, so that DayZ can recognize that you are shooting at wood, for example, so that the projectile penetrates the wood. More about this topic can be found in the DevBlog #02 – Building expansion.

Here is an example of what we think a good player collision looks like in DayZ.

As you can see in the gif, the map has already seen a lot of changes. The swamp, where the Clear Sky has its base according to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lore, has made a lot of progress. In the coming weeks we will present you a video from the swamp. So make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Until then we have a few screenshots for you. Besides the familiar locations from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, you can also see new locations that have been added to the swamp, that is, the swamp has grown.

We hope you get a good first impression of what to expect at some point. And as always, everything is a work in progress, things can and will change.

Stay tuned for more information and good hunting S.T.A.L.K.E.R.!
